The liver disease cholestasis familiaris groenlandica (CFG) and the metabolic disease propionic acidemia (PA) are 2 autosomal recessive inherited diseases, which occur with an elevated frequency in Greenlandic Inuit children. The diseases are serious and the mortality rate is high. The genetic causes are found, and carrier screening and prenatal diagnosis is now possible.
