Clinicians at the SCO Health Service were concerned that frail elderly patients who had shorter lengths of stay in rehabilitation would not be able to maintain their gains following discharge. A follow-up telephone survey was administered 300 days after discharge to 197 patients. This study found that the functional status of the group was maintained as measured by Barthel, type of mobility aid, and type of discharge location.
