All biomedical research projects in Greenland must be notified to the Commission for Scientific Research in Greenland for scientific ethical evaluation. The Commission implements the principles of the Second Declaration of Helsinki and is associated with the Danish Scientific Ethical Committee System. The projects are assessed by the medical and the Greenlandic members of the Commission. The Greenlandic members act as lay people in this context. The annual number of biomedical research projects submitted is from ten to fifteen.
