A 1973 survey of 50 health professionals in the Phoenix Area of the U.S. Indian Health Service elicited their attitudes toward American Indian alcoholics and their service unit's alcoholism treatment program. A positive attitude on the part of clinicians has been shown by past research as necessary for proper treatment. Results of this study showed that the respondents felt generally positive about both their program and the clients in it. There were some exceptions noted.
