Families are the original environment for the vast majority in every culture and remain influential throughout life. Healthy families provide the foundation for the mental, physical, social and economic well-being for each person. Poor health within families, in contrast, can be a burden on others within the family, bringing stressor or spreading infection.
This theme on Healthy Families is distinguishable by its concentration on specific populations; in this case, families, in contrast to other themes that focus on diseases, services, geography or behaviors. Both the themes of Healthy Families and Healthy Communities contribute new knowledge on the primary settings for good health. Within those primary settings, the Healthy Families theme naturally intersects with all other themes in the ICCH15 Proceedings.
