Senile amyloidosis affects brain vessels and meninges, eye vessels and extraocular structures, and appears during the 6th decade of the life. Its, incidence in patients with senile or presenile dementia and senile plaques is higher than in patients having only senile plaques (the data are based on the examination of 165 patients who died at psychiatric clinics and charitable institutions for old people in Volgograd from 1987 to 1992.
