The objective of the present study was to investigate if there was a difference in baseline serum concentrations of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) between groups with and without cardiovascular events during a mean follow-up of 6.6 years in a group of initially healthy 58-year-old men.
