Based on the data of cerebral stroke register carried out in the Khanty-Mansi autonomous okrug in 2004-2007, the information on the prevalence of main risk factors has been obtained. Arterial hypertension is the most significant risk factor for all forms of acute cerebral blood flow disturbance. Comparison of prevalence of main risk factors of stroke in residents of this region and people of other regions of the Russian Federation has revealed significant differences for all factors, with the exception of alcohol abuse. The structure of risk factor prevalence in the autonomous okrug differs from that in Russia.
