Preliminary findings indicated a less favorable fatty acid profile in plasma phospholipids of Canadians of Icelandic descent compared to that obtained from Icelanders living in ReykjavÃk, Iceland. Continuing analysis of the data from the Icelandic-Canadians study populations confirms the earlier findings. Levels of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids as well as ratios of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in plasma phospholipids of Icelandic-Canadians were lower than those in plasma phospholipids of a subsection of tile Icelandic study population in the Fljótsdalur District of eastern Iceland.
