Health professional recruitment and retention in northern and isolated areas is a continuing challenge. Surveys show that lifestyle and awareness of regional opportunities are important factors influencing those who choose to work in remote regions. This paper describes a satellite educational program of the School of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy at McMaster University which brings part of each class of students to northwestern Ontario. Program rationale, basic educational structure, and a follow-up of the first graduating class are presented.
